Comments and Opinions

After a long silence, this blog received a set of comments all at once. Delighted, I reviewed them. Sadly, all of them, virtually from the same individual, used negative terms to trash the poet personally. It seems poems 5 and 6 that I flagged as a pair, offended this reader.

WordPress gives me the option of moderating the comments before they become attached to my blog. While the content of this particular poem pair may offend some sensibilities, name-calling is not an option to express opinions. My blog uses a thoughtful approach. Identifying what elements are unacceptable, how and why they do not deserve space on the web is valid and can lead to a thoughtful exchange of issues and ideas.

I invite mindful views expressed in civilized terms. That’s what the tagline of the blog is for: PROVOKING THOUGHT.

Reactions from biased attitudes, what might be called predisposition to prejudice, do not contribute to growth in understanding. For expression of such feelings, here are options:

  •  hot dialog held with your own self privately
  • fiery scribbles to be immediately trashed (on-line or paper)–not posted
  • a quick march round the room, the block, the house, or street
